Table Cricket Finals at OT

Lord's Taverners Regional Table Cricket Finals

Wirral Grammar and Bishop Heber, Malpas were attending the Lords Taverners Regional Table Cricket Finals at Emirates Old Trafford indoor school representing Cheshire, after coming through our District and County events for which a record 27 teams took part throughout. 8 schools representing Cheshire, Lancashire and North Wales took part in the event at Old Trafford, in what was a fiercely competitive competition. Bishop Heber, Malpas missed out on the overall final on count back of runs conceded, however Wirral Grammar had no such issues as they made the final against Sandfield school from Merseyside. In a fantastically close game, it was Wirral Grammar who came out as the overall winners and in doing so, booked their place at the National Finals at Lords Cricket Ground. Wirral Grammar are Cheshire’s first ever National Finalists, we are very proud of them and of Bishop Heber who missed out so closely on making it an all Cheshire Final.

Mr Taylor, Wirral Grammar said: “All our boys have really fallen in love with table cricket, we really want to say how happy we are as a school that the boys have made it to Lords. Myself and Mr Botes have been working with some of these boys for 7 years and to watch them compete in table cricket has been amazing. We are so happy that table cricket has given them the opportunity to get involved in sport and represent the school”.

Mr Lindley, Bishop Heber said: “It was a fantastic event played in such a great sporting manner which allows all our students the opportunity to represent the school in competitive sport. Some of our students have taken part in the table cricket for the last 5 years and have loved been part of a team. Seeing them develop personally and enjoying the interaction with other schools and students is such a rich and rewarding experience.”
