Discipline
Cheshire Cricket Board has adopted the ECB’s General Conduct Regulations (GCRs) and Anti-Discrimination Code.
The purpose of the General Conduct Regulations is to set consistent standards of conduct and behaviour and provide a single set of regulations which can be applied consistently across recreational cricket, to ensure that disciplinary matters are dealt with in a fair, efficient and consistent manner by cricket organisations and to provide assistance to cricket organisations when establishing and running their disciplinary processes.
ECB made the GCRs mandatory for all County Cricket Boards and Premier Leagues from 2022, and optional for other cricket organisations (with a view to rolling out nationwide from 2023 onwards). Both Cheshire County Cricket League and the Cheshire Cricket League have adopted the GCR with immediate effect for this season, while any competitions played under the jurisdiction of Cheshire Cricket Board (or its constituent member Cheshire Youth Cricket) will also be covered.
Whilst the GCRs are mostly used to deal with players’ on-field behaviours there is also relevance to off field behaviour, including social media, as well as the conduct of officials, clubs and spectators/supporters. A full copy of the regulations can be viewed here. ECB has produced a template which umpires and/or participants can use to report any breaches of discipline.
For Cheshire County Cricket League competitions, all discipline matters should be reported in the first instance to Discipline Officer Derek Barnett. For Cheshire Cricket League competitions, the Discipline Officer is Chris Rigg. For any issues which fall outside the jurisdiction of the leagues, contact County Discipline Officer Julie Rafferty.
The ECB Anti-Discrimination Code is relevant to all people involved within Cheshire Cricket and should be always adhered to. As has been previously communicated, we strongly recommend that all cricket clubs affiliated to the Board formally adopt the ECB Anti-Discrimination Code as part of their constitutions and share on their websites and with club members.
