Cheshire Cricket Board works in partnership with the Cheshire Association of Groundsmen to advise, support and encourage our affiliated clubs to make the most of their playing facilities.

To enable us to better understand ‘who’ at your club is responsible for looking after the ground and the level of support they may require, please complete this short survey.

In Cheshire, we are extremely fortunate to have three ECB County Pitch Advisors (CPAs) available to support the club network. The CPAs have a wealth of experience in getting the best out of pitches and a commitment to helping groundsmen at all levels of the game. A list of services available to clubs is as follows:

Online GMA Level 3 Cricket Surfaces Course (Advanced Turf Culture)
Cost £150 (£110 for GMA members)
Time to complete: Approx 6 hours (within 28 day window)

In the absence of any face-to-face training during the National Lockdown, CAG encouraged volunteer groundsmen to upskill by taking the GMA (online) Level 1 Cricket Grounds Maintenance course (CCB will contribute £25 towards the course cost). Upon successful completion of the course, please email a copy of your certificate to

Pitch Advisory Service - Feb 2021 Cost
Site Visit - On-site inspection by a CPA and a simple, written report covering areas of concern £100
Performance Quality Standard (PQS) Report – Short Version with simple recommendations £150
Performance Quality Standard (PQS) Report - Comprehensive technical assessment of square or outfield using ECB Performance Quality Standards £250
Follow-up visit - negotiated by CPA if necessary £50-£100
Costs above not inclusive of mileage (45p per mile). Any additional costs to be advised by CPA as appropriate
