ROLE PURPOSE

The Cheshire Cricket Board is looking to appoint a Women & Girls Club Development Officer to support the growth of the game within recreational cricket, focusing on the population of Cheshire.

The delivery programme will focus on existing partnerships with local clubs, schools and community groups as well as developing new opportunities across the recreational game.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The recruitment of a Women & Girls Officer in Cheshire will require a team-based approach, working alongside existing officers who have a shared focus for the development women and girls’ programmes.

 

PROGRAMME DELIVERY

To be responsible for planning and delivering a co-ordinated programme of cricket activity and provide quality coaching to all abilities in a friendly and professional environment ensuring that all participants involved in sessions are appropriately supervised at all times.

 

CHANCE TO SHINE

  • Be responsible for the Management of the Chance to Shine project in your area, working with the Schools Senior Manager.
  • Ensure all (pre-agreed) KPIs for primary / secondary delivery are met on deadline
  • Signpost young cricketers from school to community / club settings
  • Organise a local competition framework (indoors and out) to feed into County Finals
  • Update the Chance to Shine Portal on a regular basis
  • Collect feedback from schools / participants to evidence quality of delivery

 

CLUB NETWORK

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with club officials
  • Communicate with clubs on a regular basis to inform of the activities of CCB and ECB
  • Arrange to meet club officials to discuss Development Plans and help to implement
  • Promote the benefits of having AllStars and Dynamos
  • Support clubs in establishing and sustaining thriving women and girl’s sections
  • Support the organisation and delivery of year-round women and girl's festivals and leagues
  • Support the implementation and delivery of the girls Metro Bank programme
  • Arrange regular visits to support delivery of the club coaching programme
  • Help develop links with local schools / community groups
  • Support clubs through ECB Clubmark accreditation and Annual Health Checks
  • Share information with club network about potential funding
  • Ensure coaches /volunteers are up to date with DBS, First Aid and Safeguarding checks
  • Encourage attendance of volunteers on Coach Education courses

 

PLAYER PATHWAY

  • Coach on the CCB Player Pathway as allocated by CCB Performance Senior Manager
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Make notes on players to assist with nomination process
  • Coach/Manage County Age Group team
  • Organise training sessions and coach at CAG match days
  • Support the organisation and delivery of the girl's district programme

 

COACH EDUCATION

  • Set up/ deliver Cricket Activator Courses at schools/clubs in accordance with C2S targets
  • Promote CCB Coach Education courses (CPD, ECB Support Coach, ECB F1, ECB Core Coach) within the club network
  • Mentor newly qualified and existing coaches within club settings

 

GENERAL

  • Ability to plan and deliver a full working timetable of activity
  • Prepare and deliver programmes of work in consultation with Women & Girls Senior Manager.
  • Take responsibility for completing and returning all the necessary forms including online timesheet, register of participants, feedback questionnaires etc.
  • Work in designated communities with identified target groups throughout the district / county.
  • Operate in accordance with national minimum standards for coaches and activities.
  • Be aware and comply with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and work procedures as highlighted by your line manager.
  • Ensure that all accident and incidents are recorded and those deemed to be serious reported immediately to your line manager.
  • Wear and maintain issued uniform or clothing as directed and to conduct yourself in a manner commensurate with the high-profile image of the Cheshire Cricket Board.
  • Maintain a flexible approach commensurate with the aims of the Cheshire Cricket Board.
  • Work evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Engage in a managed continuous personal development plan

 

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • High levels of energy and enthusiasm and the desire to succeed
    Excellent knowledge and understanding of delivering social outcomes for people through sport
  • Experience of working within sports or community groups
  • Experience of partnership working and the ability to create strong and sustainable links
  • Experience of working in school and / or community settings
  • Good project management skills and ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Knowledge and understanding of working and engaging with volunteers
  • Effective communicator and the ability to engage in multiple environments
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer literate and effective user of Microsoft / Google programmes
  • Safeguarding trained or, commitment to achieving within a short period of time
  • First aid trained or, a commitment to achieving within a short period of time
  • ECB DBS cleared
  • Ability to travel independently between sites
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends

Desirable

  • Understanding and experience within several sports and / or community development programmes
  • Cricket foundation level coaching or multi sports qualification,
  • A basic understanding of cricket and associated programmes
  • Experience of working with volunteers and participants in recreational sport, community groups or education

SUPERVISION AND WORK PLANNING

The Women & Girls Club Development Officer will predominantly work across Cheshire.

The post holder will be required to carry out their duties at such times and on such days that are the most effective to perform the responsibilities of the position. The Cheshire Cricket Board operates on an Annualised Contract basis.
