Disability Squad 2024

Disability Squad 2024 End of Season report - Chris Edwards BEM

As I finally sit down and reflect on what has been the most long and successful season in the History of this squad. Starting indoors at The Grange School, to going outdoors at Chester Boughton Hall CC on a cold wet muddy good Friday to Oulton Park for preseason training, to ending up with 2 of our sides getting to Regional and National finals. Our S9’s squads showing constant progress in the North Regional League. Our Leopards squad finishing 3rd in the group just behind Yorkshire and Cheshire Cougars. Cheshire Cougars finished top of the Group winning 5 of their 6 games only losing to Yorkshire by 2 runs away and then falling short in the final by 42 runs. Our D40 Squad Won D40 Pursuit league winning the final by 31 runs v Middlesex, seeing them progress to D40 Quest next year. Also, we have seen a second Hardball team merge who have been playing D40 development matches throughout the year. This also led to a midweek game v Appleton u15s with a junior team in the first time in our history we played a match other than a Sunday.

In this report you will see a lowdown of what happened throughout the season and how each team supported each other and grew every game. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Fellow coaches, Martin Othick, George Marsden, Mudassar Panchbhaya for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. Also, would like to thank the management team behind the scenes, Pam, Angie who also Scores for our squads and manages the leopards’ side, David our team president, and Keith who advises myself on squad matters and mentor to a few of our players. without their guidance, support and fetch and carry items that we need makes the world of difference. To our scorers Sandra, Rebecca and Angie. Who make my life easy on match day knowing everything is under control in the scorebox. To the Photographers, David, Paul and Rob (Did the Wirral Based D40 games) To our Hosts Macclesfield, Wirral, Neston, Appleton, Frodsham, Barrow, Chester BH, Caldy, and Irby.

A massive thank you to them. Finally, to all the umpires who put themselves forward to Stand in our games, Thank you.

Next year is a big year for the team as we will be celebrating 25 years of the Squads existence. Keep an eye out on events that will come up throughout next year.

Have a good winter.
